Dr. Dan Palazzolo moved approval of the
minutes of September 1, 2015. Dr. Abigail Cheever seconded. With no further
discussion, the minutes were approved by voice vote.
2. Revised
Course Proposals
BIOL 314 and BIOL
335 were presented as revised course proposals.
Dr. Linda Boland
moved approval of the revised course proposals. Dr. Geoff Goddu seconded. With
no further discussion, the revised course proposals were approved by voice
vote.
3. New Course
Proposals
BIOL 381 and MUS
122 were proposed as new courses. Dr. Michelle Hamm moved approval of the new
course proposals. Dr. Walt Stevenson seconded. With no further discussion, the new
course proposals were approved by voice vote.
4. Suspending
Criminal Justice Programs—Jan Hoffman French
Dr. Stephanie
Cobb moved approval of the Motion to Eliminate the Criminal Justice Programs.
Dr. Linda Boland seconded.
Dr. Jan French,
Chair of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, presented to the faculty
the Motion to Eliminate the Criminal Justice Program and explained the
department’s rationale and plan for teaching out all current students. With no
further discussion, the motion to suspend the Criminal Justice program was
approved by voice vote.
5. Discussion
with President Ronald A. Crutcher
Dean Skerrett
introduced President Ronald A. Crutcher. Dr. Crutcher invited each member to
introduce him or herself. In preparation for a strategic planning process later
in the fall, Dr. Crutcher is engaged in a listening tour. He led the members in
a discussion of significant strengths and aspirations in the School of Arts and
Sciences.
